15 days until EXIT Festival 2019 and counting!
Our last article listed the lineup for all four days of EXIT Festival 2019 and you can check it out on this link. But, aside from getting ready to enjoy some fine music and dance your worries away, you should still learn some of the paramount EXIT Festival essentials that will let you enjoy yourself to the fullest.
It’s true that some music festivals don’t have an age restriction, but EXIT is not one of them. If you want to go to the Petrovaradin Fortress during EXIT, you have to be 18 or older.
Because of the really warm summers and the usual work hours, the gates of the festival open at 7 PM. However, you cannot enter the festival for the entirety of the night. After 3 AM the gates close. That doesn’t mean you’ll have to leave since most people party till the morning but if you’re not already within the walls of the festival at 3 AM, you won’t be able to get in afterwards.
Be prepared for a relatively strict search compared to some other festivals. What’s more, you won’t be able to bring in certain items into the festival area. For instance, foods and drinks from the outside are not allowed so don’t even bother trying to sneak these in. And even though you can bring a camera – it may as well be one of the EXIT Festival essentials to document the experience – selfie sticks aren’t welcome. The same goes for the instruments. And even though it may disappoint some of you, it’s also forbidden to bring your pets to the festival grounds.
Since you won’t be able to bring in foods and beverage from the outside, don’t bring everything you have money-wise each day of the festival. EXIT provides you with a special festival card that you can get at the Village, and you can put as much cash as you want on the card. Therefore, it would be much easier for you to just bring the money you plan to put on the card for that specific day of the festival (and maybe just a little bit of extra cash if you plan to catch a taxi later). That way you won’t have to worry about losing your money or spending too much in one day.
Unfortunately, the weather in Serbia at this time of the year can be very unpredictable. You can definitely count on irritating heat but it’s also possible to rain heavily at some point. Sometimes it rains, sometimes it doesn’t. That’s summer for you. In general, it would be smart to prepare for really warm summer weather with light clothes, sunglasses, and a hat, but you may want to bring a raincoat with you just in case. If you’re going to the festival during the day and/or plan to stay until the morning please wear sunscreen for adequate sun protection! Moreover, dress in something you wouldn’t mind getting dirty. If the weather is dry there’s plenty of dust. If it rains there’s plenty of mud. So definitely no “dress to impress’ necessary when this festival is concerned.
EXIT Festival is really big and even though you may be really fit you can get tired easily. The sun doesn’t help either. Whatever you do and however much you decide to stay, remember to keep yourself hydrated. Even though beer is really great and affordable here, make sure to drink water as well! You’ll keep yourself healthy and able to enjoy the music for longer.
